The 5 Best YA Books This 2015…and Counting

I must say, the upcoming books this year have AMAZING covers…and even greater storylines. Here are the currently (in my opinion) 10 best YA books this 2015.

1.) The Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

Just by looking at the cover, you know that it’s going to be one great read. The storyline is nothing to sneeze at either. The protagonist is a low-life “Red”, and basically has a terrible life until she discovers that she has powers, like the “Silvers”, otherwise called royalty. Well, her life doesn’t actually become better. It becomes maybe even more complicated if you add in evil Silver girls vying for your prince’s attention, a wicked mother-in-law, and lots and lots of betrayals. If you’re looking for a kick-ass heroine, some serious X-Men action, a little bit of romance, and a storyline like a darker, scarier “The Selection”, this book is most definitely for you.

2.) An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

This book is a breath of fresh air. It tackles problems most YA books don’t usually have, such as brutal murder, indecision, and the ever-present question: can I control my own fate? This book is told with 2 POV’s, the first a girl’s perspective then a boy’s perspective. At the start of the book, these characters don’t even know that the other exists, until fate twines their destinies together. It’s a long story, but it’s definitely worth it.
3.) A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

I wrote a book review about this one. This book is incredible because it has gorgeous visuals and a compelling storyline, while challenging your knowledge about the fey portrayed in YA. The main character is a strong heroine, and hardly backs down from a fight. She is perfectly complemented by her love-interest, a Highborn fey who rules over the Spring Court. For lovers of YA fiction with fairies (not the Tinkerbell kind), romance, action, adventure, and suspense, this book is for you.
4.) The Heir by Kiera Cass

This is a popular one. For those of you who don’t know, The Heir is the 4th book of ‘The Selection’ series, which the story of the daughter of the two main characters of the previous books. Thanks to the previous novels, The Heir has gained lots of excitement from ‘The Selection’ fans. It’s also interesting because of the change of roles in the Selection process, since it’s a girl picking from masses of boys instead of a boy choosing from masses of girls, unlike the previous book. This is definitely for readers who love ‘the Selection’ series and fans of romance and dystopian worlds.
5.) Stolen Songbird by Danielle L. Jensen

This is a book about Cécile, a girl who is an exceptional (but not THAT good) singer who is kidnapped…by trolls. Only these trolls are not the incredibly dumb and dense kind that you usually find in the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings, but trolls that look human. Oh, and they also have inhuman strength, speed, and intelligence. Cécile is supposed to be the prophesied one who breaks the curse of said trolls, only that she kind of isn’t, which leads to many problems, for both the trolls and herself. Personally, I think that fans of books who don’t like insta-love romances, love a relatable heroine, and adore twists in plots would enjoy this book very much.
